Are you confident that your restaurant’s online presence is displaying information correctly and consistently across all the major web directories? Most owners haven’t even thought about that, but by spending a little time expanding your web presence you’ll begin to improve your results in Google Search.
There’s a site called Moz.com that provides a variety of Search Engine Optimization tools and support, but they also have some FREE tools that can show you some interesting information about your restaurant. Today we’ll look at their Online Presence Checker. This queries 22 online directories to check your restaurant’s presence.
- Visit Moz.com
- Choose ‘Free SEO Tools.’
- Choose ‘More Free SEO Tools.’
- Choose ‘My Online Presence.’
- Put in your Company Name and Address in the fields, and click ‘Check Now.’
The results will show you how well your restaurant is appearing in online local directories.
These results are for a great pub in Lake Oswego, Oregon called Gubanc’s Pub. They have their Google and Facebook listings in good shape, but as you can see the quality of their online location data can use some work.
64% of their listings are incorrect or not completed. 32% of the directories have no information about Gubancs. Only 4% are correct.
Many owners response is that no one is ever going to find you on some of the smaller directories, but that’s not really the end game. The search engines (like Google) sees your information on all these directories, and those become indicators that over time will move your restaurant higher in the search results. The higher you appear on page one of search results, the more clicks you will receive!
